School Cricket GroundMaintenance Project


Introduction

With reference of to the Dharmaraja College Old BoysUnion of Australia Inc.’s Constitution, one of the primary objectives of theOBU is to assist extra curricular and sporting activities of the school.

A request by the School Play Ground Committee to assist in maintenance fundingof the ground was received. This proposal was submitted to themeeting of the Executive Committee held on the 20th September 2008. This wasapproved and identified as a relevant project.

Terms of reference

1.
To provide adequate funding tomaintain the newly built school grounds.
2. To develop strategies to generate funds required for theproject.

Project Summery

The project intends to assist in partly funding the maintenance of the newlybuilt ‘state of art’ cricket ground and the turf wickets at the ‘Lake View’Estate in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

The estimated cost of maintaining the project, submitted by the School PlayGround Committee is Rs75 000.00 ($880.00 approx.) per month.

The estimate of the project expenditure was accepted by the Executive Committeeand decided to implement the project by contributing Rs.75 000.00 annually.That is our contribution of the maintenance fee for one month per year.

Implementation

1.
The project will be implemented by establishing atrust fund in Sri Lankato provide a sum of Rs.75 000.00, annually to the School Play Ground Committee.
2. Documentary evidence of all the expenditure incurred bythe School Play Ground Committee in maintaining the ground is required by theOBU Executive Committee in Melbourne.
3. The OBU Executive committee will withhold or suspend thepayment if such documentation is not received prior to the payment.

Method of funding and fund collection

Funds collected in Australiawill be deposited in a specially created trust fund in a reputed financialinstitution Sri Lanka.Adequate funds are to be collected to generate an income of Rs.75 000.00 annually.
For the first year it is proposed to send a dollar equivalent of Rs.75 000.00,because the time factor required establishing the trust fund.

It is estimated that all members contribute $100.00 each, we will have enoughfunds in the trust fund to generate $75 000.00 annually.
By paying $100.00, the member becomes a life member of the OBU Victoria. Hencethe member is not required pay the membership fees annually. The annualmaintenance becomes perpetuity, funded by members. The $100.00 life membershipcan be paid as a lump sum or in installment of $20 per month for five months.

Conclusion
This is one of the major projects undertakenby the Dharmaraja OBU, Melbourne.



This project is well with in our scope and it is unique because a one is helpingthe old school for a worthwhile course in perpetuity.



Your one and only contribution of $100.00 willmaintain the funds for the future maintenance of the school grounds. We feelthat we owe something to the school, one must be thankful to the initialeducation at school and the influence it gave us for the betterment of life andstanding of this country.



Weappeal to every Old Rajan for the contribution andfeel contended and happy that you have done something to the school, our ‘AlmaMater’- Dharmaraja College.
