Power the Lakeview Voice - A project by Dharmaraja OBU Australia Melbourne
Fellow Rajans — some things stay with you for a lifetime.
Close your eyes for a moment. Can you still hear it?
7:30 am
"Sri Lanka Janatha Gamagami..."
Every single morning, 5,000 students rise as one and the school anthem fills the Kandy air. Those opening words — and every hair on your arms stood up.
The school song rising over the Kandy hills. The morning air carrying 5,000 young voices all at once — unified, powerful, unstoppable. The kind of sound that plants itself deep in your chest and never quite leaves.
That sound is us. It is every Rajan who ever walked those 54 acres. And right now, it needs our help.
5,000 voices. One magnificent roar.
With the PA system in full voice, every single one of our 5,000 students sings the school anthem in perfect unity — from the front gates to the farthest corner of the hillside. That is not just a sound. That is the soul of Dharmaraja, alive and echoing across Kandy. No recording captures it. You have to have stood there to know it.
The challenge Dharmaraja faces
Our beloved school's PA system has grown old and weary. Today, instead of one clear, united voice reaching every corner of the campus, different parts of the school receive fractured, mismatched versions of the same announcement at different times — due to technical failures that have left a system that once spoke as one now struggling to find its voice.
That invisible thread connecting every student to the heartbeat of the school day slowly frays.
Imagine a morning where our young Rajans stand in silence — no school song, no shared anthem, no sense that they belong to something bigger than themselves. That is what we are working to prevent.
A milestone worth celebrating together
Our newly appointed Principal — a proud fellow alumnus — has personally called on us to act.
June 30th is Dharmaraja Founder's Day, and this year our Alma Mater turns 138 years old.
What more beautiful birthday gift could we give than the gift of her voice back?
How you can help
We are running a 2-month peer-to-peer fundraiser — Rajan to Rajan, brother to brother. Every single dollar brings that chorus one step closer to ringing out across the Kandy hills again.
Independently verified cost
Our Principal has personally consulted several professional companies to scope the full repair and upgrade. The independently verified cost across multiple quotes comes to approximately AUD 7,000 — every dollar of which goes directly toward restoring the school's voice.
Target
AUD 7,000
Timeline
2 months
Deadline
30th July
Please share this post with every Rajan brother you know. The more hearts we reach, the louder she sings.
